GOLDEN AXE (TELENET JAPAN / SEGA)

CD-ROM 2 SYSTEM (JAPANESE VERSION)

There must exist some sort of Holy Inquisition in the game scene, to punish the heretics who dare to slander some sacred games. It would be nice to force such nasty persons to taste their own poison for hours and hours, until their bodies collapse and they become braindead!!

Hmmm... OK, now IŽm pretty calm! =) But thereŽll be more complaints along the text...

Well, so the cult game Golden Axe, one of the best titles ever created by SEGA, became one of the worst garbages ever made to the PC-ENGINE! And no, Pack-in-Video was not responsible for this crappy conversion. Believe it or not, but Golden Axe on the PCE was made by the famous Telenet, the same company which brought us some wonderful games such as Valis and Cosmic Fantasy series.

Even with this impressive curriculum, Telenet had no right to kill Golden Axe the way they did! The graphics are abominable, worse than 90% of Master System games (Gilius Thunderhead is ridiculous). The game controlling is awful, and even the cinema sequences, usually a trademark from Telenet, are damn disgusting!! The only aspect slightly acceptable is the soundtrack, still bad but with 3 or 4 interesting tunes.

The PC-ENGINE port of Golden Axe is a complete flop! The team responsible for such crap should be forced to pass thru a shallow corridor filled with razorblades, then fall into a lake with plenty of red pepper and, later on, be polished with tons of salt... a quartering in the end would fit like a glove!
