DRAGON BALL Z (BANDAI)

 SUPER CD-ROM2 (JAPANESE VERSION)

There's absolutely no need to write a long introduction about this game. It's almost impossible to find a person within the gaming scene that doesn't know Dragon Ball Z, the biggest anime series ever produced and an incontestable success all over the world. There are lots of games from several consoles based on Dragon Ball Z animes, including the PC-ENGINE version.

Dragon Ball Z for PC-ENGINE had been produced by Bandai, back in 1994, and it's quite a different kind of fighting game, in which you have to use several options to attack, defend and use special abilities.

The game is full of cinemas, including an adaptation of the cartoon opening sequence, with the original musical theme. The story begins with Gohan telling his younger brother, Goten, the path followed by their father Goku throughout the series, from his childhood till his more recent bloody combats. Along the story, a lot of characters from the anime are introduced: Bulma, Vegeta, Trunks and many others.

DBZ has amazing well-produced graphics, tons of anime sequences and great musics, but it has quite a complicated gameplay... it's pretty hard to get into the game controlling and learn how to use the options. You'll have to be patient to learn how to play it well. But it's certainly a worthy game, specialy if you're addicted on the anime series.

Dragon Ball Z is quite a different PC-ENGINE game, pretty hard but yet a must for any DBZ fan.
