ASUKA 120% MAXIMA BURNING FEST  (FILL IN CAFE/NEC AVENUE)

SUPER CD-ROM 2 (JAPANESE VERSION)

When I saw Asuka Burning Fest cover for the first time, I definitely hated the name of the softhouse: "What a heck is this Fill in Café?". I figured out that this game would certainly be crappy, another awful and boring hentai game, with no gameplay at all, on behalf of dozens of semi-naked girly pics.

Thank God, I was wrong! First, because Asuka Burning Fest isn't a hentai game, though it's plenty of tasty chicks using short clothes. Also, because Asuka Burning Fest is, certainly, one of the best PC-ENGINE fighting games, along with Street Fighter II' and Flash Hiders.

A little taste of the gameplot. Asuka is the main character, a cute girl that loves chemistry and throw test tubes full of explosives on her oponents (maybe that's the reason of the name "Burning Fest"). Among the fighters, there's the androgynous Torami (awesome fighter!), the gymnast Kumi, the irritating and awful Megumi and the big-breasted Cathy.

But, after all, what makes of Asuka Burning Fest such a nice game? Beautiful background graphics and well-animated fighters, along with a truly catching electronic soundtrack and flawless gameplay... GOTCHA! We have a winner! Fill in Cafe really knows how to make good tunes, as could have been noticed on its previous fighting game, Algunos. The gameplay is great, with a simple and damn effective combo scheme and, also, easy-to-apply special moves, even with only two buttons.

Asuka Burning Fest was certainly one of the greatest surprises I had on the PC-ENGINE. For those who claimed for a nice fighting game on CD, go for it! You won't regret at all!
